The Yuma Parks
June 28, 2019
There are many things that people associate with the Southwest including cowboys, trains, and ghost towns to name a few. However, one of the great things about Yuma that doesn’t automatically spring to mind is our park system. Whether you’re visiting or living here at the Friendly Acres RV Resort, make one of the 35 parks in Yuma part of your experience.
The Great Yuma Park
One great park that is a must do, is the West Wetlands Park or Centennial Beach, a 110-acre park. Thirty acres of the lower beach are native trees and grasses while the 30 acres of the upper beach have a lake, picnic ramadas, parking, lighting, and landscaping.
You also have access to a boat launch for the lake. Here you’ll also find a butterfly and hummingbird garden, a burrowing owl habitat, and the Arizona Public Service Solar Demonstration Garden.
Things to Do
You can rent one of the five Ramadas, three of which have a grill in addition to the picnic benches they all offer. You can ride a horse on the equestrian trail, or just hike along the other trails.
If you’re interested in fishing, they have the West Wetlands Pond which is stocked with a variety of fish. The park also has the Stewart Vincent Wolfe Creative Playground, a zipline, a TriNet climbing structure, and a comfort swing.
